MLB DFS: Best DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, strategy for April 29, 2021

Defending National League Cy Young Award winner Trevor Bauer has been dominant again so far in 2021, as the Dodgers ace has posted a 3-0 record with a 2.53 ERA and 45 strikeouts in five appearances. Bauer takes the mound again Thursday when the 16-9 Dodgers begin a series at the Milwaukee Brewers. But is Bauer primed to deliver strong dividends as one of your core MLB DFS picks?

Rostering Bauer will be costly, as he is going for $11,300 on DraftKings and $11,000 on FanDuel, but he has been worth it — bringing in an average of over 28 MLB DFS points per game this season on DraftKings and over 47 per game on FanDuel. And if you roster Bauer, what position players are available within your budget in daily Fantasy baseball tournaments, 50-50s and cash games? Before locking in any MLB DFS picks for Thursday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Wednesday, McClure had Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow as his top MLB DFS pitching pick on both sites. The result: Glasnow struck out 10 over seven scoreless innings en route to a win, and on his way to returning over 60 points on FanDuel. Anybody who had him in their lineup was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, with the 2021 MLB season rolling on Thursday, McClure has locked in his top MLB daily Fantasy picks. Head to SportsLine now to see them

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for April 29, 2021

One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Thursday is Braves right fielder Ronald Acuna at $5,800 on DraftKings and $4,300 on FanDuel. Acuna is hitting .350 with an MLB-best eight home runs and 17 RBIs. That includes a 1-for-4 effort Wednesday against the Cubs.

Simply put, Acuna is one of the hottest young players in the game right now. The 23-year-old Venezuelan has hit six of his home runs and driven in 11 of his RBIs at Truist Field, where the Braves play Chicago again Thursday night. If he can deliver like he did Tuesday via a 481-foot moonshot home run, McClure sees Acuna providing superb value across the MLB DFS spectrum.

Part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy Thursday includes rostering Dodgers left fielder A.J. Pollock at $3,100 on DraftKings and $2,600 on FanDuel. Pollock is hitting .262 with a home run and six RBIs. That includes going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored against the Reds on Wednesday.

Pollock is in his third season as a Dodger after seven with the Diamondbacks. He has some work to do to equal 2020’s 16-home run, 34-RBI effort, but that could change Thursday as Los Angeles begins a road series at Milwaukee. The Brewers are sending left-hander Eric Lauer out for his first appearance of the season, and Pollock hits lefties better — slashing .284/.334/.516/.850 against southpaws in his career.

How to set your MLB DFS lineups for April 29, 2021
