MLB DFS: Best DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, strategy for April 28, 2021

Blue Jays designated hitter Vladimir Guerrero Jr. vaulted into the elite sluggers of 2021 with his three-homer, seven-RBI outburst on Tuesday night against the Nationals that brought MLB DFS owners who rostered him over 70 points on FanDuel. That gave Guerrero seven home runs and 19 RBIs this season, to go with a team-best .360 batting average. With Guerrero and the Blue Jays facing the Nationals again on Wednesday night, is the 22-year-old slugger a smart choice for your MLB DFS picks?

Guerrero, who will cost $5,700 on DraftKings and 3,700 on FanDuel, won’t break your MLB DFS budget. That means there is room for a superstar or two in daily Fantasy baseball tournaments, 50-50s and cash games on both sites. Before setting any MLB DFS lineups for Wednesday’s action, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Tuesday, McClure had Braves right fielder Aaron Judge as a top MLB DFS pick on both sites. The result: Judge went 2-for-4 with a solo home run on his way to returning over 24 points on FanDuel. Anybody who had him in their lineup was well on the way to a profitable day.

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for April 28, 2021

One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Wednesday is Astros left fielder Yordan Alvarez at $5,400 on DraftKings and $3,500 on FanDuel. Alvarez is hitting .309 with two home runs and 14 RBIs so far this season. He went 1-for-3 with an RBI double on Tuesday against the Mariners.

Alvarez has been on a tear in the last week, doubling three times, smacking a triple and driving in six runs over six games. Alvarez feasts off right-handers like Seattle starter Justin Dunn in his career, hitting .307 with 19 homers and twice as many RBIs than against southpaws. McClure knows a mismatch when he sees it, and loves Alvarez on Wednesday in all MLB DFS formats.

Part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy Wednesday includes rostering Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton at $4,900 on DraftKings and $3,400 on FanDuel. Stanton is hitting just .205 in 2021, but has belted six home runs and driven in 15 runs. Stanton smacked a solo home run as part of a 2-for-5 day on Tuesday against the Orioles.

With just 17 games played at Baltimore, Stanton is relatively new to games in Camden Yards — but has hit .294 with three home runs, three doubles and nine RBIs in 17 games there. And Stanton absolutely dominates right-handers like Baltimore’s Domingo German, ripping 233 of his 318 career homers against them.
